| Strengths & Weaknesses | Stregnths Include: Piloting Shizuru is an excellent pilot. She loves to fly and drive things. She has been piloting starships and shuttles since she could reach a console. She has even been known to come up with her own flight patterns from time to time and has a built in instinct to adapt to any situation. Engineering Even though she doesn't want to be an engineer, she knows a lot about it. She was brought up around a family focused on Starship Engineering. Over the years she's picked up a few things here and there and doesn't often use this knowledge unless she has to, she much prefers flying the ship over fixing it. Jiu Jitsu She is rather skilled in the martial arts of Jiu Jitsu. She practises daily and she started learning this due to being constantly picked on by her brother in her youth. She is currently a red belt holder, which is the highest colour in the art. Weaknesses Include: Romantic Relationships She has never had a boyfriend or being in a serious relationship. Therefore she isn't very experienced when it comes to them. She did try dating in her teen years, but often the boys she was interested in were 'scared off' by her over protective older brothers. White Coat Hypertension Shizuru hates anything to do with medical. She often feels faint in a medical situation and she has a deep phobia of blood or anything gory. She often has to be pursuaded to go to sickbay, and she hates being ill. She has been known to faint from this before. Trypanophobia Similar to the White Coat Hypertension, Shizuru is fearful of needles or injections. She won't look or have anything to do with medical equipment, including hyposprays if she can. She is probably the worst patient any doctor can have because if she has a chance to escape, she will take it and you won't catch her! |

| Hobbies & Interests | Martial Arts & Sports As she practises Jiu Jitsu almost daily, she is a fan of martial arts and sports. She also enjoys swimming and running. Her favourite sport is baseball which she enjoys playing as well as supporting her local team. Trains Since she was fourteen and her uncle Kenji took her to an old heritage railway in Japan, she has been a fan of Trains. She likes to mainly drive them. She enjoys working the controls and getting somewhere in an 'old fashioned' manner. She also likes how they feel more 'down to earth' than flying and appreciates their history. Geekism! Shizuru is a closet geek. She loves everything geeky and different. From Japanese Manga & Anime to American Comic Books and super heroes. She loves them all and she has a large collection of memorabilia and collectibles. However she of often embarrassed by them so no one knows about it. Computers A little bit of her geeky side, Shizuru loves computers. She is very good with computer programming especially holographic novel creation and holodeck programs. She has been known to reprogram broken computer programs to make them operational again. Travelling Shizuru loves visiting new places and meeting new people. Her job as a Starfleet Officers takes her to many new worlds across the galaxy. She wants to one day set foot on every member world of the Federation to add to her journal titled 'Shizuru's Hitchhikers Guide to the United Federation of Planets'. |

| Personal History | Born into a Starfleet Family, Shizuru has always been surrounded by Starships. She was expected to one day become an Engineer like her mother and father, however she never showed interest in that. She would spend hours as a child staring out at the stars wanting to fly the ship. She learnt how to defend herself after her rambunctious brothers would often pick on her and engage in 'rough play' with each other. She started learning Jiu Jitsu at age eight. At age twelve she put it to good use to stop her brothers from picking on her anymore. (She basically kicked their asses.) As a teenager she showed no interest in Engineering, but more in piloting and driving things. On a visit to Earth her uncle took her to a heritage railway where he volunteered. Her brothers showed no interest in the old trains, however Shizuru did. She was even allowed to drive one of the old electric type trains which started her fascination with them, and driving different modes of transport. This would eventually end up with her deciding to be a pilot in Starfleet. At age eighteen she applied for Starfleet Academy, although not as an Engineer but as a pilot. This enraged her father as all of his children had either gone into Starship Engineering or Operations. However Shizuru pointed out that she wasn't like her brothers and she wanted to pilot the ship, not fix it. Finally he accepted it and sent her on her way. From that moment on Shizuru went out of her way to prove that she could be just as good, if not better than her brothers. She graduated Starfleet Academy as a pilot with high honours, and in the top five per cent of her class. It wasn't long until she got her first posting aboard the USS Monitor. She spent only eighteen months as an Ensign. That all changed after the Monitor was involved in a skirmish with a Cardassian vessel late one night. At the time Shizuru had been on the bridge handing a PADD to the officer of the watch. When the ship was attacked the helm officer had been injured and without being asked she had jumped onto the helm. Although she had yet to be allowed to actually pilot the monitor; her duties being limited to shuttle parking and the occassional shuttle run to starbases and planets, she began to pilot the ship regardless. Her piloting was later described as reckless, risky and 'different' by Captain Thomas. However due to that it had become a 'contributing factor' to the Monitor winning the skirmish and managing to defeat the Cardassian Warship. Therefore he promoted her early to the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade and made her one of the assistant chiefs. The Monitor was mainly assigned along the Cardassian Border, so saw several skirmishes and conflicts in the time that Shizuru was aboard. Eventually after spending close to four years aboard the Monitor Captain Thomas informed her that there was a position opening on a new ship. The new Akira Class starship, USS Thunderchild was looking for a good pilot. The new design of Starship was still undergoing testing, and they needed some of the best officers to man this new class. Captain Thomas had already sent a letter of recommendating along with Shizuru's application to be considered for the role of Chief Flight Control Officer. However, the Captain of the Thunderchild had already found himself a head of Flight Control, so instead of turning her down passed her application to the Thunderchild's Sister ship, the USS Thunderbird which was still looking. |
